The OTC benefit offers members an easy way to get generic over-the-counter health and wellness products.


  • Members order from a list of approved OTC items which are mailed directly to their home.

  • The benefit gives a monthly or quarterly allowance that varies by plan. This is a use it or lose it benefit and any unused benefit amounts does not carry over to the next benefit period.

  • Members can use this allowance to purchase some health and wellness items at no extra cost to them. Members get CVS Health brand products (generic brand).


There are states that offer members access to use their OTC benefit in-store at select CVS retail store locations.  Not all stores within these applicable states are enabled to process OTC orders in-store. How much can members order?
  • Some plans offer a monthly allowance amount and some plans offer a quarterly allowance amount.

  • Each order has to be less than or equal to their plan’s allowance amount.


What OTC products can members order?

Members have to choose products from an approved catalog of OTC items, such as, but not limited to:

Adult incontinence








Ear and eye care

First aid

Foot care




(for example, cleaning wipes, insect repellant)

Pain relief

Personal care

(for example, cotton swabs, lotions, sunscreen)
